IMPROVISATION
Samuel Burt improvises quite frequently. He performs in Death in the Maze and Geodesic Gnome. He performed in the High Zero Festival in 2005, 2006, and 2008.
His improvisations include extending the range of clarinet performance and exploring the expressiveness of digital synthesis. Over the past few years, he has been adding balloons to his act. His invention the balloon drum consists of a funnel with a stretched punch balloon acting as a membrane on the large opening and a narrow balloon functioning as a reed.
